As a parent or caregiver, you will do whatever you can to keep your child healthy. That should include getting vaccines on schedule.
White’s Pediatrics follows the immunization guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for children and adolescents from birth to 18 years old which is supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
We believe following this recommended vaccination schedule is an essential part of well-child care. However, we also recognize and respect the parents’ or caregivers’ role as the primary decision maker for their child’s healthcare.
Immunization Schedule
Here are some of the most common vaccines that your pediatrician will administer. Some are dispensed orally and others injected as a shot.
- Influenza (Flu)
- Measles (MMR)
- Meningitis (MenACWY/MenB)
- Hepatitis B (HepB)
- Rotavirus (RV)
- Tetanus (DTaP)
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
Flu vaccines start at 6 months of age and are recommended annually during the season. If your child is under 8 years of age and is receiving the flu vaccine for the first time, your child will need a flu booster one month after the first flu vaccine. HPV is a 3 dose series given during the teen years and optimally started at 11-12 years of age.
You can find more information and download the full schedule of recommended vaccinations on the CDC website.
Our Immunization Policy
Vaccines protect children and their families and friends from dangerous, life-threatening illnesses, and are extensively tested for safety and effectiveness before they can be given. Side effects are rare and are usually extremely mild. If you have any questions or concerns about vaccines, please ask anyone in our office for more information.
Following this recommended schedule is not a requirement to be a patient at our practice, but patients who choose not to vaccinate their child will be required to sign a Refusal to Vaccinate form.
