If you have ever hesitated to call a pediatrician because you were not sure your insurance would be accepted, you are not alone. For many families across Northwest Georgia, the question of whether a practice accepts Medicaid is not a minor administrative detail — it is the deciding factor in whether their child gets seen at all.
The short answer is yes. White’s Pediatrics accepts Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, and all major insurance plans at our three locations in Dalton, Chatsworth, and Calhoun. We want to give you more than a short answer, because insurance questions in pediatric care come with many layers. This guide covers what plans we accept, what is typically covered at each visit type, what to bring, and what to do if your child’s coverage changes.
Yes, White's Pediatrics Accepts Medicaid, PeachCare, and All Insurances
White’s Pediatrics accepts all major insurance plans, including Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids, at all three locations — Dalton, Chatsworth, and Calhoun — including during after-hours urgent care at our Dalton location. We believe that every child in Northwest Georgia deserves quality pediatric care regardless of what insurance card their family carries.
We accept all insurances. If you are unsure whether your specific plan is currently accepted, calling us at (706) 876-2130 before your visit allows our team to verify your coverage quickly so you arrive with confidence. Walk-in visits are welcome at all locations, though scheduling an appointment is strongly encouraged to reduce your wait time.
What Medicaid Typically Covers at White's Pediatrics
Understanding what your insurance covers at each type of visit helps you arrive prepared. Here is a general breakdown of what Georgia Medicaid typically covers for pediatric visits at White’s Pediatrics.
Well-Child Visits:
Well-child visits are covered under Georgia Medicaid. These visits include physical examination, growth and development assessment, vision and hearing screening, immunizations, developmental and behavioral screenings including tools for anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and the opportunity to discuss any health concerns. Medicaid covers these visits on a schedule aligned with the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended timeline from newborn through age 21.
Sick Visits and Urgent Care:
Georgia Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids cover urgent care services, including same-day sick visits and after-hours urgent care at our Dalton location. Children under the age of 21 enrolled in standard Medicaid generally have no copayments for medical visits. Our team will confirm your specific plan details at check-in.
Immunizations:
Vaccines covered under the Vaccines for Children program are available to Medicaid-eligible children. This includes all routine childhood vaccines recommended by the AAP immunization schedule.
Rapid Testing:
Same-day rapid testing for strep, flu, RSV, and COVID is available at all three White’s Pediatrics locations and is typically covered under Georgia Medicaid plans when medically indicated as part of a sick visit evaluation.
Mental Health Screenings:
Developmental and behavioral screenings are conducted as part of well-child visits at White’s Pediatrics and are covered under Medicaid. If a referral to a behavioral health provider is recommended, Medicaid covers behavioral health and counseling services for children when medically indicated.
What to Bring to Your Visit
Arriving prepared makes check-in faster and ensures your child can be seen without delays. New patient forms are available for download on our New Patients page at whitespediatrics.com.
- Your child’s current Medicaid or PeachCare insurance card
- A valid photo ID for the parent or guardian
- Any recent changes to your coverage, plan name, or member ID number
- A list of any current medications your child takes
- Completed new patient forms from our New Patients page, if applicable
If your insurance card has not arrived yet or you do not have it with you, call us at (706) 876-2130 and our team can often verify coverage with your name, date of birth, and member ID number.
What to Do If Your Child's Medicaid Coverage Changes
Coverage changes are one of the most stressful parts of navigating Medicaid. If your child’s plan changes, contact our office as soon as possible so our team can verify the new coverage before your next visit. If your child loses Medicaid coverage and you believe they may qualify for PeachCare, the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services can help you apply.
After-Hours Urgent Care and Medicaid
Georgia Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids cover urgent care services, which means the after-hours urgent care at our Dalton location is a covered option for Medicaid families. The White’s Pediatrics Dalton location offers after-hours pediatric urgent care Monday through Friday from 5PM to 9PM and Saturday through Sunday from 8AM to 12PM.
For families in Chatsworth and Calhoun, same-day sick appointments are available during regular office hours Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM.
Spanish-Speaking Staff at All Locations
All three White’s Pediatrics locations have Spanish-speaking staff available. If you or your family prefer to communicate in Spanish, our team can assist you throughout your visit — from check-in through your child’s evaluation and discharge instructions.
Your Insurance Should Not Be a Barrier to Your Child's Care
White’s Pediatrics accepts all insurances at all three locations, and our team is here to help you verify coverage, understand what is included, and get your child seen when they need care. For additional information on Georgia Medicaid and PeachCare eligibility, the American Academy of Pediatrics at healthychildren.org provides helpful guidance for families.
